Cebu Energy Development Corporation (CEDC)

Cebu Energy Development Corporation (CEDC) was established in 2008. It is a 246MW coal-fired power plant which utilizes the latest in clean coal technology. Located in Toledo, Cebu, CEDC is the single largest power plant investment in the province amounting to US$450 Million through the consortium of Global Business Power Corporation, Aboitiz Power Corporation, Formosa Heavy Industries Corporation, and Vivant Corporation. It is the first baseload plant in the Visayas to be constructed in over 20 years.

Cebu Energy Development Corporation envisions itself to be the power generator of choice in Cebu and the Visayas. Guided by its paramount standards of responsible corporate citizenship, energy cost–efficiency, reliability, and environmental sustainability, Cebu Energy has the ultimate goal of contributing to the economic growth of Cebu and the Visayas region by addressing the need for affordable and reliable base-load power from 2010 onwards.

Staying true to its advocacy, Cebu Energy’s 3x82MW Clean Coal–Fired Power Plant will provide affordable energy rates while at the same time improve power system reliability and address environmental issues in Cebu. Using the latest Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) technology, Cebu Energy’s coal-fired power plant project sets the beginning of a cleaner transitional technology that would not only support the fast-growing economy of Cebu but also address the province’s need for improved environmental management.
