The Visayan Electric Company, Inc. (VECO) is an electric utility firm servicing the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay and Naga and four other municipalities of the greater part of Metro Cebu - Liloan, Consolacion, Minglanilla and San Fernando. Its franchise service covers an area of about 672 square kilometers with an estimated population of 1.73 million. In 1918, the families Escaño and Garcia acquired a majority interest in Visayan Electric Co., Inc. (VECO) and after 105 years, VECO is now the country’s second largest distribution utility company in the Philippines, with a total demand of 308 MW and a consumption of 1,745 GwHrs.
