Sabang Renewable Energy Corp. started providing stable, reliable and renewable energy to Barangay Cabayugan in Puerto Princesa City where the famous Underground River is located.“SREC is our way of fulfilling our mission to combine emerging and existing technologies to provide adaptable and innovative energy solutions that improve the economy and way of life in Cabayugan,” SREC chairman Emil Andre Garcia said.Under optimal conditions, the $450-million hybrid plant will generate as much as 2.6 megawatts once it is completed. This will allow the mini-grid to provide power to 10 public buildings, 18 small businesses, 19 hotels and restaurants and 583 households.
“By combining the innovation of renewable energy and the efficiency of conventional power generation, SREC will save the environment from over 25,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide while providing stable and reliable energy to the community,” Garcia said.
